How to add IoT Devices

InfoTiles is primarily designed to ingest data through connections such as APIs, IoT and SCADA. You can follow this step to stream data from your IoT Devices and discover insights.

Prerequisites

• Your devices should be configured to send data to InfoTiles. If you need help with this, please submit a support request.

Instructions

From the Overview Page, select Devices on the left sidebar menu

Click IoT on the top navigation 

Click the Ad a device button at the top right

Fill in the required information (metadata) 

• Basic information
  • Device ID: should exactly match with the ID on your devices
  • Display name: a friendly name to display on InfoTiles and Dashboards
  • Description: Optional. A short description of the device's function
  • Index: Optional. The location to store data. Select from the list.
  • Equipment type: select from the list
  • Telemetry: select from the list
  • Unit of measurement: select from the list

Then click next to advance to the Attachment blade, optionally adding an attachment such as a photograph or manual. 

Click Next to add the location of the device on the Geographical blade. You can specify location by any of:

1. Searching for a location
2. Dragging the marker on the map
3. Entering latitude and longitude

You should also select the Zone from the list. The Zone list can be edited by Admins.

Click Next to add Custom metadata on the final Metadata blade. What is required or optional here is specified by your Administrator.

Finally Click Save to save your device.

Outcome

The new device is now displayed under Devices.
