TSVB (Time Series Visual Builder) includes several different visualization types for time series data. TSVB allows working with multiple index patterns (or data sets) on the same visualization, which makes it easier to correlate and analyze data from multiple sources.
Table of content
- Step 1: Open the visualization builder
- Step 2: Choose Metrics and Buckets for the visualization
- Step 3: Save the visualization
Start with the scenario: Average temperature week over week. In this example, we use a public data feed NETATMO and TRAFIKKDATA.
Step 1: Open the visualization builder
2. Expand the left menu drawer, click 'Tenants' and select the Tenant you want to work with.
Visualize on the left sidebar menu
Go to4. Click Create visualization
5. Select TSVB
Step 2: Choose Metrics and Buckets for the visualization
Below is the overview of the series that needs to be included in the chart.
Add the first series
When adding a series to TSVB, you can only select fields within the default Index Pattern by default. These steps show how to visualize a field associated with an Index Pattern that is different from the default one.
1. Name the series as "Traffic by vehicle type"
2. Toggle down the series, then select Options
- Select Yes to override the default Index Pattern
- Fill in the different Index Pattern you want to work with. This example uses the index pattern of traffikkdata.
- Select the field that is used as of timestamp in Time Field.
Tip: You can copy and paste the index name from the "Index Pattern Management Page"
4. Select Metrics, then fill in required fields:
- Select Average as aggregation, volume as field
- Group by Terms, then select vehicleType as field
Tip: You can change the chart type in the Options panel. In this example, a stacked bar chart is used.
After complete these steps to add the first series, you should see the visualization as below
Add the second series
These steps show how to visualize a field associated with another Index Pattern that is different from the default one and the one used in the first series.
1. Click icon to add another series
2. Name the series as "Rain hourly"
3. Toggle down the series, then select Options
- Select Yes to override the default Index Pattern
- Fill in the different Index Patterns you want to work with. This example uses the index pattern of netatmo.
- Select Yes to separate axis, select Right as the metric position. 'Volume of traffic' and 'Rain hourly' are visualized on different vertical axes because of different units.
4. Select Metrics, then fill in as below
- Select Average as aggregation, rain60Min as field
- Select the colour icon to change colour
After these steps to add the second series, the visualization should be displayed for Last 7 days as below:
Step 3: Save the visualization
- Click Save on the top right corner.
- Add title and description to the visualization for later use.
